Container pickupand return at the port
We move your container between the port and your warehouse, with the equipment and the timing the terminal requires.
A container does not wait. The terminal charges storage from the day free time expires, and the shipping line charges demurrage for as long as the container stays out. Both clocks run at once, for different reasons. That is why this service is scheduled against the expiry date, not against the pickup date.
What this freight takes
- Terminal appointment
- Ports work on assigned windows. Arriving outside yours means coming back another day, and someone pays for that day.
- Equipment with container locks
- A container chassis, or a trailer with twist locks. A container held down with straps alone on a flat deck does not meet the standard.
- One dispatch guide per movement
- From 1 November 2026 the guide must carry the actual origin and destination, plates, driver and real departure time. Pickup and return are two movements, so they are two guides.
Common questions
- Do you handle pickup and return, or only one leg?
- Both. You can hire the pickup alone, the return alone, or the full cycle. On the full cycle we coordinate both terminal appointments so the container is not left waiting in between.
- What if the container is not ready on the day of the appointment?
- You tell us and we reschedule with the terminal. What we do not do is send the truck to wait: a truck standing at the port gate helps nobody and is billed all the same.
- Do you work with 20 and 40 foot containers?
- With both. In the quote you tell us which one it is and how much the cargo weighs: a loaded 20 foot container of dense material can take more equipment than a light 40 foot one.
